Landry repeats as women's high jump champion at SSAC meet

Sophomore also qualified for NAIA nationals; two-day meet will conclude Tuesday

GULF SHORES, Ala. — Tenosh Landry of Loyola University New Orleans repeated as women's high jump champion Monday at the Southern States Athletic Conference women's outdoor track and field meet.
 

Landry cleared 1.70 meters/5 feet, 7 inches, an A-qualifying mark for next month's NAIA national meet. The sophomore was one-hundredth of a meter from her 2025 school record. After clearing 1.67 meters, which was the NAIA B standard mark, on her first try, the program-record holder hit 1.70 meters on her second attempt. 
 

Also scoring for the Wolf Pack women were Jordyn Minor in the long jump (third place, 5.57 meters/18 feet, 3 1/4 inches), Kaylee Dublin in the discus (fourth, 35.87 meters/117 feet, 8 inches), the 4x800-meter relay team of Meera Hijazi, Caitlyn Summers, Sophia Freeze and Sela Myers (sixth, 10 minutes, 48.08 seconds) and Kimora Daniel in the hammer (eighth, 32.25 meters/105 feet, 9 inches).
 

Scoring for the Wolf Pack men were 4x800-meter relay team of Carter Dural, Landon Dixon, Jace Luckoski and Joseph Medina (second place, 8:02.24), Jacob Kennedy in the 10,000 (third, 32:22.06), Jaden Thomas in the long jump (sixth, 6.75 meters/22 feet, 1 3/4 inches) and high jump (1.85 meters/6 feet, three-fourths of an inch), and Richard Magann in the hammer (eighth, 37.98 meters/124 feet, 7 inches). 
 

Advancing to finals were Minor in the women's 100, Jenna Galeas and Andrea Bardles in the women's 100 hurdles and Thomas in the men's 100.
 

In Loyola's new-era record book (1996-present), Thomas set the men's mark of 10.70 in the 100. The 4x800 relay team is No. 3, and Thomas tied for third in the high jump. For the Loyola women, Landry is No. 2 in the high jump, and Minor is No. 2 in the 100 (12.00) and No. 5 in the long jump.  
 

Loyola's women are fourth out of eight teams with 25 points. William Carey leads with 64. Life leads the men with 97 points, and the Wolf Pack are fifth out of eight teams with 19.
 

The two-day meet will conclude Tuesday at Gulf Shores Sportsplex. Competition will resume with the women's 5,000 at 7:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 4 p.m.
