No. 8 Women’s golf competes against stacked field

COHUTTA, Ga. – The No. 8-ranked Loyola Wolf Pack has joined nine other NAIA Top 25 teams in Cohutta, Georgia, this week to compete in the Roadrunner Spring Invitational, playing the first two of three rounds on Monday. 
 

Loyola had a two-round total of 627 (+51) and sit tied for sixth place with No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan. The hosts, No. 2 Dalton State, leads the field with a tournament score of 591 (+15), followed by No. 4 SCAD Savannah (+19), No. 7 William Carey (+23), No. 6 SCAD Atlanta (+36), and No. 14 Pikeville (+39) ahead of the Pack. There are 16 total teams competing the tournament, and Loyola has the edge over No. 19 Lewis-Clark State (+56), No. 18 Rocky Mountain (+62), and No. 21 Truett McConnell (+68) on the team leaderboard with 18 holes left to play on Tuesday. 
 

Catherine Singletary leads the Wolf Pack in a tie for 18th place (+10) after rounds of 74 and 80 on Monday. Singletary's morning round featured five birdies on her card to keep her score low, while she ran into some trouble closing out her second round. 
 

Sarah Meral rebounded nicely from her first-round 82 (+10) to her second-round 75 (+3) to sit tied for 24th (+13) on the individual leaderboard. After her tough morning round, the senior started her second round 3-over after her first six holes, only to finish her final 12 holes even par. 
 

Johanna Haver had rounds of 80 (+8) and 78 (+6) and is one stroke behind Meral in a tie for 31st (+14). Evie Sisk is tied for 48th (+18) and Aaliyah Achary is tied for 55th (+19) in the 89-golfer field.
