No. 10 Women’s golf finishes third at BMCU Spring Classic

WEST POINT, Miss. – The 10th-ranked Loyola University New Orleans women's golf team battled three other nationally-ranked teams atop the BMCU Spring Classic leaderboard all week, the Wolf Pack finished the 54-hole tournament in third place. Loyola had a tournament score of 954 (+90) and finished six strokes ahead of fourth-place No. 17 Coastal Georgia. 
 

No. 8 William Carey won the event at 66-over (930), and No. 3 Dalton State took second place at 75-over (939). 
 

Sarah Meral finished the tournament strong with a third-round 77 (+5), which was her best round-score of the week. She sat at 6-over through her first nine holes, but two birdies and six pars on her second nine allowed her finish tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard. 
 

It was Meral's ninth career Top 10 finish, and she's the only Wolf Pack women's golfer in program history to accomplish that feat in less than two seasons with the program. 
 

Johanna Haver was next for the Wolf Pack in a tie for 13th (+24) after her final round of 80 (+8), then Evie Sisk's third-round 78 (+6) allowed her to move up a little into a tie for 18th (+26). Next was Aaliyah Achary, who placed 20th (+27), and Catherine Singletary, who finished 23rd (+30). 
 

Loyola was the only team in the field to have all five golfers finish in the Top 23. 
 

Next up for the the Pack is Dalton State's Roadrunner Spring Invitational, which takes place March 30-31 at Nob North Golf Course in Cohutta, Georgia. Loyola won the Alice Lloyd Eagle Invitational at that same course last fall.
