Two finish in Top 10 at Carey Collegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Loyola University New Orleans women's golf team wrapped up a good few days in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on Tuesday, finishing the Carey Collegaite in third place out of nine teams. No. 19 Loyola (+50) finished behind No. 1 Keiser (+32) and No. 6 Dalton State (+39) on the team leaderboard, but beat No. 8 William Carey (+54) and No. 9 Lindsey Wilson (+64). 
 

After back-to-back weeks in tournaments against stacked fields, the Wolf Pack will take more than a month off before they're set to compete again. Loyola will finish its fall schedule in Cohutta, Georgia, Oct. 27-28, at the ALC Eagle Invite. 
 

Aaliyah Achary continued to lead the Wolf Pack during the third round of competition. Starting the day three-over through 36 holes, Achary carded a 2-over, 74 on Tuesday to remain in the Top 5 of the individual leaderboard in fourth place. Her 54-hole tournament score of 221 (+5) is tied for the seventh-best three-round tournament score in program history, and it was her first career Top 5 finish after earning one Top 10 last spring. 
 

After a rocky 2-over start through three holes, Achary birdied the two par 3s on the front nine to help get back to 1-over at the turn. After a bogey on the 10th to get back to 2-over, she carded eight straight pars to finish her round. 
 

Sarah Meral earned her fifth career Top 10 at Loyola with a 10th-place finish (+11). Similar to Achary, Meral got off to a bumping start with three bogeys through her first four holes. However, birdies on the seventh (par 3, 152 yards) and eighth (par 4, 326 yards) had her score at 1-over through the first nine holes. A couple of bogeys and seven pars made up her back nine score, which got Meral to her third-round 75 (+3) to help move up the leaderboard. 
 

Catherine Singletary finished just behind Meral in 11th place (+12) after she shot a third-round 77 (+5). She was five-over through her first two holes, but played even-par golf the rest of the way to get her score. Johanna Haver recorded her best round of the week with a 78 (+6) to finish 23rd (+22), and Evie Sisk took 38th (+34).
