No. 17 Women’s Golf starts NAIA Championship Tuesday

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The 2025 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship got started on Tuesday with light rain conditions at Eagle Crest Golf Club, as the Loyola University New Orleans women's golf team finished the first round in a tie for 17th place with a 319 (+31) Day 1 score. The Wolf Pack is scheduled to tee off on the second round at 7:20 a.m. CDT on Wednesday. 
 

The top-ranked team in the NAIA, British Columbia, leads the field with a 9-over team score, and No. 8 Marian (Ind.) and No. 2 Keiser are in second and third place at 13-over and 18-over, respectively. 
 

The traditional par 72 course features water on 10 holes, but the par-5 fifth, which doesn't have water in play, proved to be the most difficult on the course. It had an average score of 6.97, with 137 of the 155 golfers in the field scoring a bogey or worse. Aidan McLachlan played that hole the best for Loyola, carding a par to become one of 18 golfers on the day to have a par or better. 
 

Catherine Singletary posted a team-best 77 (+5) for her first round to finish the day in 27th place, and she had four pars leading up to her double bogey on that fifth hole. She finished her front nine with two pars, a bogey and a birdie before a three-over back nine. 
 

Sarah Meral was next for the Wolf Pack in 57th place after her first-round 80 (+8). McLachlan and Blair McKenzie each carded 81s (+9), and Aaliyah Achary had an 82 (+10) to start the tournament in 71st and 84th place, respectively.
