Wolf Pack Men’s Track and Field earns Scholar-Athlete honors

Two Loyola men's track and field athletes were named SSAC Scholar-Athletes on Monday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On Monday, the Southern States Athletic Conference announced the 2025 Barnes & Noble Men's Track and Field Scholar-Athlete Team. Loyola had two athletes appear on the conference's list, including sophomore Jace Luckoski and junior Connor Meigs.
 

To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in both academic and athletic standing, must be starters or important reserves, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have competed in 50 percent of the competitions. Graduate students are not eligible, and transfers must have completed one semester at the school. 
 

Luckoski built a solid season on the track in his second year as a member of the Wolf Pack. Luckoski earned First Team All-Conference in the indoor distance medley, along with Third Team All-Conference in the indoor 3,000-meter steeplechase, posting first place and third-place performances at the SSAC Indoor Championships, respectively. The Belle Chasse, Louisiana, native also set a program record in the indoor 1,000-meter run, recording a time of 2:35.43 at the SSAC Championships. In the outdoor season, Luckoski earned Third Team All-Conference in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a third-place performance of 10:10.32 at the SSAC Championships. Off the track, Luckoski earned his first-career spot on the All-Academic team. Luckoski has a 3.982 GPA as a mathematics major at Loyola. 
 

Meigs became an SSAC Scholar-Athlete for the second time in his collegiate career on Monday. The Raleigh, North Carolina, native posted the fifth-best time in the Loyola record book in the 5,000-meter run at the SSAC Indoor Championships, recording a time of 16:15.05. Meigs posted an indoor personal best in the 3,000-meter run at the SSAC Championships, notching a time of 9:14.21. The junior also earned SSAC All-Academic status, also earning that honor for the second time in his career, doing so in back-to-back seasons. Meigs has a 3.667 GPA as a music industry major at Loyola.
