THIBODAUX, La. – The Loyola Wolf Pack women's tennis team faced NCAA D-I Nicholls for the second time this season, with the Colonels winning 4-1 on their home courts to even the season series.
Loyola falls to 12-5 with the loss.
The Wolf Pack's one point on Wednesday came at No. 1 singles, as Nicholls captured the doubles point and three singles matches. Lucy Carpenter defeated Nicholls' top player, Aada Inna, for the second time this season: 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.
Carpenter improved to 12-3 at No. 1 singles this season with the win and has reached the 12-win mark in each of the last four seasons.
Nicholls won courts 2 and 6 in straight sets, and they came back After Avery Frierson took the first set 6-0 to win in three sets on court 4 to seal the team win. Adele Fereres and Avrova Volkova both won the first set in their matches, but they went unfinished due to the Colonels clinching.
Before starting the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship tournament next week, Loyola will close out the regular season with one more conference match on the road, facing the University of Mobile on April 12 at 11 a.m.
