MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 8 Loyola Wolf Pack women's tennis team played the first of three matches this week, all on the road. The Pack started the week with a 6-1 win over Louisiana Christian University, which sits just outside of the top 25 in the NAIA Coaches' Rating but landed 12th in the ITA team rankings.
With its second straight win, Loyola improves to 12-4 in the spring season.
The Wolf Pack started the match winning two out of three in doubles to claim the doubles point, as they have done in 15 of 16 matches this season. LCU took the match at court 3 in doubles, but the Pack won the other two. Lucy Carpenter and Chloe Henderson won 6-1, improving to 15-1 on the season, and Adele Fereres and Avery Frierson won 6-2 to finish up doubles.
The Wildcats also started off singles with a win at court 6, but Loyola took care of business on the top five courts. Carpenter was first, winning 6-3, 6-2 on court 1 for her 11th win of the year. Fereres was next, picking up win No. 12 with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles. Chloe Henderson clinched it, earning her 11th win of the year at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-4.
After the team win was clinched, Loyola also got a straight-sets win from Avery Frierson at the No. 4 spot, and closed out the match with three-set victory at No. 5 singles.
Next up on the schedule, the Wolf Pack will head to Thibodaux, La., to face NCAA D-I Nicholls for the second time this season.
