MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After two close losses against top-10 opponents, the No. 8 Loyola Wolf Pack women's tennis team bounced back with a 7-0 win against Tennessee Southern on Saturday at the Lagoon Park Tennis Complex.
Loyola is now 11-4 this season, 3-2 in conference play going into its last two matches of the season.
This was the 12th match in a row in which the Pack won the doubles point, sweeping the trio of doubles matches Saturday.
Reilly Briggs and Avery Frierson started off doubles with a 6-1 win. Chloe Henderson and Lucy Carpenter then did the same, clinching the doubles point with a 6-1 result. The NAIA's No. 11-ranked doubles team, Henderson and Carpenter improved to 14-1 this season with the win. It was also Carpenter's 75th doubles win at Loyola. Avrora Volkova and Adele Fereres closed out doubles competition, winning 6-2 on court 3.
Henderson only dropped one game at No. 2 singles to finish first, closely followed by Volkova, who earned a perfect 6-0, 6-0 result at the No. 5 spot. The team victory was clinched by freshman Bianca Harris, who won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles in her first dual match with the Pack.
Rounding out singles, Fereres, Frierson, and Carpenter all won in straight sets. Now three different Wolf Pack players (Carpenter, Henderson, Fereres) all have double-digit singles wins this season, with Fereres leading the way at 11-2.
The Wolf Pack will take a break from conference play, heading to NCAA D-I Nicholls on Wednesday, April 9, before closing out the regular season at Mobile on April 12.
