KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The last NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Rating of the 2024-25 season was released on Wednesday, and the Loyola Wolf Pack moved up one in the final poll to No. 23 overall.
Loyola's men's team was ranked in each of the last five polls to end the season. The Wolf Pack put together an 8-10 overall record in the spring, 3-3 in conference play, with the season concluding in the SSAC Championship semifinal against eventual winners William Carey.
The Wolf Pack were led in overall victories by freshman Alfredo Gallegos, who went 13-4 overall in singles competition and 7-8 in doubles with junior Hippolyte de Preville for 20 total wins.
In singles matches, de Preville also had a winning record at 8-7, as did freshman Jett Nguyen at 5-4. Newcomer Sam Izrael went 7-8, including 5-3 at the No. 2 spot in singles, while Remus Hebhang-Balan and Spencer Matz each totaled six singles wins.
Hebhang-Balan had the most doubles wins on the team with 11, going 8-6 with Akhil Indrabalan and 3-1 with Samuel Motazed, with all of their matches coming at the top position in doubles. Motazed and Izrael went 7-6 at No. 2 doubles, while Izrael and Nguyen won two of their four doubles matches to close the season.
The No. 23 ranking ties the best national ranking in program history. The team's eight wins this season were also tied for the most in Matt Llewellyn's tenure leading the Wolf Pack men's team.
