Matt Llewellyn became the Wolf Pack's men's and women's tennis head coach in November 2019. He completed his sixth season in New Orleans in 2024-25. 

Llewellyn coached the men’s and women’s teams in six and seven matches, respectively, before the COVID-19 pandemic ended the 2020 season early. The 2021 season was similarly cut short due to the pandemic, as Loyola's women's tennis team played just eight matches, and the men's team played 10. Llewellyn helped to keep the Wolf Pack women's team ranked inside the Top 25, however, and they ended the season at No. 21. He also recruited to the program Lucy Carpenter, who reached a national ITA ranking as high as No. 8 and was named the SSAC Freshman of the Year. Carpenter and her doubles partner, Fatima Vasquez, were each named First-Team All-Conference. 

Finally in his third season with the Pack, both Llewellyn's teams were able to play at least 15 games. The Wolf Pack women's team remained ranked all season long, finishing at No. 17 with an 8-11 record, while the men's team went 5-10. Both teams had at least two All-Conference selections, as Lucy Carpenter became Loyola's first-ever SSAC Player of the Year and a two-time All-American.

The Wolf Pack made history in Llewellyn's fourth season, as the women's team set a program record for most wins in a season with a 14-8 record, and the team had a ranking as high as No. 11. The women won their opening-round matchup at the NAIA National Championship for just the second time in program history, with Lucy Carpenter earning All-American honors for the third time. Loyola's men's team put together an 8-10 record, their most wins since 2018, and both teams had 4-2 conference records, tying program records for most SSAC wins in a season. 

In his fifth season, Loyola reached new heights at the NAIA National Championship, with the women's team advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time. The women's team had a record five players make All-Conference, and Lucy Carpenter was named SSAC Player of the Year for the second time and All-America for the fourth time. The women's team also reached an NAIA ranking of No. 8, highest in program history.

The sixth season of Llewellyn's Wolf Pack tenure brought the school its first tennis conference championship, as the Loyola women's team took down previously undefeated William Carey to capture the 2025 SSAC Championship tournament, with Adele Fereres being named Championship MVP. The Pack again reached the quarterfinals as the No. 6 seed, its highest ranking ever, and three Wolf Pack players, Lucy Carpenter, Chloe Henderson, and Micaela Ponce, were named NAIA All-Americans. 

Llewellyn, a Michigan native, played collegiately at the University of Toledo before serving in many different positions in the tennis profession. After his competitive playing days, he held roles as an assistant for the men's and women's teams at Flagler College (2006-2008) and Roger Williams (2008-2009). Before Loyola, he was the Director of Tennis at the Tennis Club of Hastings in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.

Prior to his position in Hastings-on-Hudson, Llewellyn was the Director of Tennis at Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich, Connecticut, but while working his duties at those two positions, he also spent his spare time serving as a private coach and varsity tennis coach. In Greenwich, he coached USTA and ITF ranked juniors, which included multiple four-star recruits. He shared his duties in Hastings-on-Hudson with the Masters Schools, as he coached the varsity tennis team to great success.
