HAMMOND, La. – The Loyola men's and women's track and field teams continued the outdoor season on the northshore on Friday. The Wolf Pack competed in Southeastern's Strawberry Relays, taking on teams from the NCAA and the NAIA. The Loyola women ended the meet in sixth place among nine teams, while the men placed third among eleven programs. The Wolf Pack also had its first national qualifier of the season on Friday.

Loyola's next meet will take place in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, at the SSAC Championships. The two-day conference championships will begin on Friday, April 25.

National Qualifier

After breaking the program record in the 400-meter hurdles at the Pelican Relays, Caleb Curry surpassed his previous best in the event at the Strawberry Relays to earn NAIA B Standard Qualification, punching his ticket to the NAIA National Championships in May. Also finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles, the freshman is the first Loyola athlete to qualify for the national championships this season.

Jasmine Martinez ended the 800-meter run in second place. The graduate student completed the race with a time of 2:25.71.

In the 1,500-meter race, Jacob Kennedy ran a time of 4:09.10. The sophomore secured second place in the event on Friday.

Jace Luckoski claimed first place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The sophomore beat the second-place finisher by over 30 seconds, securing a time of 10:03.87. Lucoski's 10:03.87 time is the second-best spot in program history.

The Loyola relay team finished third in the 4x400-meter relay. Ollie Brumfield IV, Dallas Hughes, Bryce Darensbourg, and Curry ended the race with a 3:21.79 time.

Elio Bejaran took third in the javelin throw, recording a distance of 50.78 meters. Bejaran's distance enters the record book as the fourth-best mark in school history.

Breaking his own program record, Brumfield finished the 110-meter hurdles in 15.30. After previously establishing the program record at the Belhaven Invitational, Brumfield exceeded his personal best on Friday while earning fourth place in the event.

Earning the fourth-best spot in program history, Madison Ackerman completed the 100-meter hurdles with a 15.69 time. Ackerman ended the race in eighth place.

Olivia Leroux took fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 32.90 meters. Leroux's 32.90-meter throw is the fifth-best in the Loyola record book, giving her two of the top five performances in program history.

Hughes ran a time of 50.15 in the 400-meter dash. Hughes claimed eighth place while recording the fifth-best spot in the Loyola record book.

With a 12.19-meter throw, Richard Magann posted the second-best mark in program history in the shot put. The Lafayette, Louisiana, native took ninth place in the event. Taking eighth place in the discus throw, Magann logged a 38.52-meter toss, the fourth-best in the Wolf Pack record book. The junior established the third-best spot in the record book for the hammer throw, finishing in sixth place with 36.52 meters.
