Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 8 Loyola Wolf Pack women's tennis team returned to Montgomery for more conference action at the SSAC Roundup, taking on league newcomers Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on Friday morning. The Wolf Pack swept the Fillies 7-0, not dropping a set.
Loyola improves to 10-2 overall with the win, 2-0 in conference play. This is the third season in a row in which the Wolf Pack women's team has collected at least 10 wins. Additionally, the Wolf Pack women have 50 wins under head coach Matt Llewellyn, with a 50-38 record since he took over the program in 2019.
Abraham Baldwin was playing with only five players, giving the Pack a win at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Loyola also captured the doubles point, dropping just one total game between the two matches. Chloe Henderson and Lucy Carpenter won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Adele Fereres and Micaela Ponce won 6-0 at No. 2 doubles. Both pairs now have 10 doubles wins this season.
In singles, Ponce finished first, with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 3 spot, followed by Avrora Volkova winning by the same score on court 4. Fereres was next, a perfect 6-0, 6-0 result on court 5. With the match wrapped up, Carpenter and Henderson both closed out their matches at the top two singles positions in straight sets.
Next up at the SSAC Roundup on Saturday, Loyola will look for its first ever win against Middle Georgia State. It's a top-10 NAIA matchup, with the Pack coming in at No. 8 and the Knights at No. 6. The match is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at the Lagoon Park Tennis Complex.
