Loyola swim wraps up conference meet

The Wolf Pack men’s and women’s swim teams completed the three-day event with 14 more swimmers competing in the finals

OCALA, Fla. – The Loyola Wolf Pack swim teams finished the Sun Conference Championship on Saturday with 11 more swimming in the evening final events. Both Wolf Pack teams finished the three-day meet in sixth place out of nine competing teams. 
 

Two swimmers earned personal records in the 200-yard backstroke on Saturday. First Cloe Solbach did in the morning preliminary swim, then her 2:12.03 time in the evening finals set a new one. She placed 14th in the event while Emily Cooper took 11th with a personal-record time of 2:09.38. Dylan Chehebar and Charles Henderson also recorded personal-best times in the 200-yard butterfly. Chehebar finished eighth in the event with a time of 1:56.51, but his 1:52.46 in the prelim was a new PR. Henderson earned a new personal best in both swims on Saturday, but his 14th-place time of 1:56.60 will go down as his new PR. 
 

Monty Moore-Yetter and Harvey Quiddington both recorded solid finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing back-to-back in fifth and sixth place. Moore-Yetter swam a 2:04.08 and Quiddington posted a 2:05.19. Nick Jones placed 14th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.60 and Jack McNamara swam a 47.37 in the 100-yard freestyle to place 16th. 
 

Abbigail Chemacki had the best finish of the day on the women's side, placing eighth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:49.42. Reese Berry earned 11th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:32.35, Kailee Robaina placed 13th in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:18.55, and Catherine Streeter swam a 54.45 in the 100-yard freestyle to take 14th. 
 

Next up for the Wolf Pack is the NAIA National Championship, which is set for March 5-8 in Elkhart, Indiana. The qualifiers for the championship meet will be announced on Friday, Feb. 21.
