Meral leads Wolf Pack to 17th team win in program history

COHUTTA, Ga. – Senior Sarah Meral had a historic day, as the No. 9 Loyola Wolf Pack women's golf team claimed the program's 17th team win on Tuesday at the Alice Lloyd Eagle Invitational. Meral shot a program-record 67 (-5) in cold and wet conditions to earn her first career individual medalist honor, leading the Wolf Pack to an easy team win with a 36-hole score of 617 (+41). 
 

It's the program's seventh team win since the start of the 2024 calendar year. 
 

Four of the five Wolf Pack golfers placed in the Top 5, too, and all five were in the Top 10. Catherine Singletary and Johanna Haver tied for second, Aalyiah Achary placed fifth, and Alyssa Moncada took ninth out of 32 competitors. 
 

Meral became the fourth Wolf Pack women's golfer in program history to win a tournament, and after a tough first round, the senior chipped away at her tournament score to finish with a 148 (+4). It's Meral's third career Top 5, and her second-round 67 broke a four-and-a-half-year-old program record held by former NAIA All-American, Madison Bates. Meral's card featured seven birdies and just two bogeys. 
 

Singletary ended her tournament with a second-round 77 (+5) on Tuesday to finish the week with a tournament score of 155 (+11). Haver, who held the lead after Monday's first round, carded a 79 (+7) on Tuesday to tie Singletary for second. It's Haver's first career Top 5 finish in just her third collegiate tournament at Loyola. Singletary is now tied for second in program history with 12 Top 5s throughout her Wolf Pack career. 
 

Achary had a 79 (+7) score on Tuesday to earn her second career Top 5 finish with a tournament score of 163 (+19). She's now finished in the Top 5 in consecutive tournaments. Alyssa Moncada made her Wolf Pack debut this week, and the freshman finished in the Top 10 after carding a two-round total of 170 (+26).
