BATON ROUGE, La. – The Wolf Pack track and field programs had four student-athletes competing in the LSU Purple Tiger indoor meet on Friday. Loyola raced against 14 programs from across the Gulf Coast, both NCAA Division I schools and NAIA opponents.Â

Next Saturday, Jan. 25, the Maroon and Gold will return to Tad Gormley Stadium for a rematch with the Dillard Bleu Devils and the Xavier Gold Rush and Nuggets at 10 a.m.

Jasmine Martinez got Loyola started by placing 23rd in a mile-run race of 40 participants. Martinez posted a time of 5:27.97, the 26th-best time among all athletes in the NAIA for the mile run. As the only NAIA runner in the event, the Shawnee, Oklahoma, native finished ahead of 15 NCAA Division I runners. In the 800-meter run, Martinez logged 2:27.46, the 33rd-best time in the NAIA, also earning fourth place among 18 runners in the event. Martinez's 2:27.46 time is also the second-best mark in program history for the 800-meter run.

Jacob Kennedy also competed in the mile run, taking 13th place and recording a time of 4:37.91. The sophomore runner completed the mile run as the fastest NAIA runner, also racing past 15 Division I athletes. Joseph Medina and Carter Dural joined Kennedy in the 800-meter run. Medina was the first to finish among the Wolf Pack, taking 10th place in a 15-man event with a 2:06.20 time. Dural notched 12th place in the race for a time of 2:09.22, while Kennedy ended the contest in 13th with a 2:11.32 time.
