MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On Friday, the Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll, voted on by coaches across the conference.The Wolf Pack earned 66 votes to land in sixth among eleven teams in the poll.
Blue Mountain and William Carey ended atop the poll with 116 and 114 votes respectively. Blue Mountain also led the charge with seven first-place votes, while William Carey gathered four. UT Southern (98), Dalton State (89), Mobile (77) followed the top voters, ending in third, fourth, and fifth in the poll. Following the Pack in sixth, Faulkner (52), Brewton-Parker (40), and Middle Georgia (33) were seventh, eighth, and ninth in the poll. Thomas (21) and the conference's newest member Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (20) rounded out the preseason poll.
Loyola will have five incoming student-athletes on the team, while returning six competitors from last season. Of those six, Kinslie Badon, Sarah Haas, and Emma Meneses each took part in six meets for the Wolf Pack last season.
The Wolf Pack are set to open the season at Lake Oaks Park in the Battle for New Orleans meet on Friday, Aug. 30. Loyola will follow the season-opener up with a trip to Thibodeaux, La. for the Nicholls State Invitational on Sept. 28. The Pack will host the Loyola Triangular meet on Oct. 4 in Marrero, La. The following week, the Maroon and Gold will go on the road to the Calhoun Warhawk Invitational in Oakville, Ala., on Oct. 10. Wrapping up the regular season, the Wolf Pack will travel to Knoxville, Tenn. on Oct. 25 for the NAIA Appalachian Challenge, and return to Oakville for the SSAC Championship on Nov. 8. On Nov. 22, the NAIA will be hosting the NAIA National Championship in Columbia, Mo.
