MONTGOMERY, Ala. – With the women's cross country season approaching, the Southern States Athletic Conference released the SSAC Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll, the annual voting by coaches from the ten competing teams in the conference. The Loyola women ranked sixth among the SSAC programs, receiving a total of 51 votes.
In the top spot, William Carey (99) received a conference-leading total of nine first-place votes. Dalton State (85) ended the poll in second, also getting a first-place nod. Tennessee Southern (78), Blue Mountain (76), and Mobile (58) were third, fourth, and fifth, respectively. The Wolf Pack were sixth in the preseason poll, getting 51 votes. Faulkner (42), Brewton-Parker (24), Thomas (23), and Abraham Baldwin (14) rounded out the poll.
The Maroon and Gold will welcome three student-athletes to the team, with six returners from the 2024 squad. Kinslie Badon, Sophia Freeze, Emma Meneses, and Caitlyn Summers are back in 2025, after competing in at least four meets each last year.
Loyola begins the 2025 season at the Mississippi College Opener in Clinton, Mississippi on Friday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. After hosting the Loyola Triangular in Westwego, at the Parc des Familles, on Sept. 19, the Pack will make the drive to Thibodaux for the Nicholls State Invitational on Sept. 27. After competing in the Warhawk Invite in Oakville, Alabama, on Oct. 9, Loyola will close out the regular season on Oct. 17, at the Watson Invite in Clinton, Mississippi. The SSAC Championship is set for Friday, Nov. 7, in Oakville, Alabama.
