Cross Country hosts Loyola Triangular Friday

The men’s and women’s cross country teams took first place in the meet

MARRERO, La. – The Wolf Pack crossed the Mississippi River to host the Loyola Triangular meet on Friday. The Maroon and Gold competed against NAIA crosstown rivals in Dillard and Xavier University. The women raced the 6-kilometer run while the men took part in the 8-kilometer event.

 

For the next meet, the Wolf Pack will head to Clinton, Mississippi for the Mississippi College Watson Classic on Friday, Oct. 18. 

 

The Loyola women competed well on Friday, taking seven of the top eight spots in the race and securing a score of 19, putting them in first place as a team. Jasmine Martinez ended the race first, notching a time of 25:08. Martinez's time of 25:08 became the ninth-best time in program history in the 6-kilometer run. Holly Hedrick, Sophia Freeze, and Emma Meneses were the next Loyola runners to finish, earning third, fourth, and fifth-place finishes, respectively. Hedrick, Freeze, and Meneses logged times of 25:30, 26:31, and 26:48, respectively.

 

Not long after, Madison Leishman, Kinslie Badon, and Caitlyn Summers reached the finish line in sixth, seventh, and eighth places. Leishman completed the race in 27:19, while Badon and Summers received times of 28:15 and 28:16. Briana Bradley ended the day for the Pack, getting 15th place and a 33:41 time.

 

The Wolf Pack men notched a team score of 15, placing them first. The Loyola men had ten of the top eleven finishers with Drake Breland arriving in first place for a time of 26:51. Jacob Kennedy and Jace Luckoski were soon to follow to take second and third places, along with times of 27:04 and 27:08. Connor Meigs and Evon Gocan capped off the top five, getting fourth and fifth places with 27:50 and 28:49 times, respectively.

 

Alex Medina, Cameron Loubat, and Bryce Darensbourg ended the race in seventh, eighth, and ninth places for times of 29:13, 29:14, and 29:14. Jacob Mullis and Chase Rogers finished the race soon after to log times of 29:23 and 29:44. Then, Daniel Miller and John Hall took times of 30:21 and 30:41 to earn 13th and 14th places, respectively. Carter Scheuermann and Elijah Reeves were the next two runners to reach the finish line, getting 15th and 16th places for times of 30:49 and 30:52. Carter Dural and Joseph Medina closed out the race for Loyola in 18th and 19th places, by receiving times of 32:32 and 32:42.
