NEW ORLEANS – The final numbers are in, and the Loyola University New Orleans Athletics Department completed another school year with academic success in the classroom. The Wolf Pack had 16 programs obtain a 3.0 GPA for the 2023-24 academic year, helping the department earn a 3.269 total GPA.

"I'm extremely proud of the work our student-athletes put in this year in the classroom and on the playing field," Director of Athletics Brett Simpson said. "We value academic success equally to success in competition. I'm grateful to our faculty, staff, and coaches who work alongside our student-athletes to make academics a priority."

In April, the Wolf Pack Athletics Department celebrated its Scholar-Athletes for the 2023 calendar year. To earn Loyola Scholar-Athlete status, student-athletes must have a GPA better than 3.0, and the department also honored the 2022-23 NAIA Scholar-Athlete Teams and 2024 graduates.Â

The College of Art and Sciences had 112 Loyola student-athletes record a 3.0 GPA or better, followed by the College of Business with 101, the College of Music and Media with 33, the College of Nursing and Health with eight and the College of Law with one. From there, student-athletes were broken down into three tiers: Gold (4.0 GPA), Silver (3.50-3.99) and Bronze (3.00-3.49).Â

A total of 255 earned that recognition, which is a department record.Â

Loyola also celebrated its 55 2023-24 graduates, as well as its 15 2022-23 NAIA Scholar Teams, which is awarded to programs with a team GPA better than 3.0. Â

In May, the Wolf Pack Athletics Department also had a record number of 2023-24 NAIA Daktronic Scholar-Athletes, which is given to student-athletes with a GPA of 3.50 to 4.00 and must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution. Loyola had 83 earn that honor for the academic year.Â
