NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola University New Orleans Athletics Department announced two staff changes on Tuesday aimed to enhance the department workflow and strengthen its staff structure. Loyola Director of Athletics Brett Simpson appointed Bryiana Richardson and Camal Petro to Assistant Athletic Director roles, both taking on more responsibilities in the department.

"We're excited to recognize the exemplary work of Bryiana and Camal," Simpson said. "They have provided outstanding leadership for Wolf Pack Athletics and we're grateful for those efforts. These promotions not only reward what they have done in the past but are the next step in their careers in our industry."

Richardson was hired in November 2023 as the University Sports Complex coordinator, supervising the day-to-day operations of the USC, fitness and wellness programs, community memberships, and managing the facility's staff. Richardson will take over all revenue-generating activities for the USC in her elevated position, as well as managing facility rentals and gameday operations at both on and off-campus facilities. She will also have an increased role in department budget management.

This is Richardson's second stint with the Wolf Pack, having also served as an assistant coach for the Loyola cross country and track and field programs in 2019 and 2020. In 2019 as the interim head coach of the cross country teams, she led the men's cross country team to its first Southern States Athletic Conference Championship in program history and earned SSAC Coach of the Year honors.

"First, I would like to thank our Director of Athletics Brett Simpson for considering and entrusting me with this amazing opportunity," Richardson said. "I am grateful to continue serving the University with my new responsibilities and assisting in the consistent growth of this department. Rejoining the Pack has been such a blessing for me professionally as it has helped me develop in innumerable ways."

Petro, who was named the 2021-22 NAIA SID of the Year, has served as the Director of Athletic Communications since September 2019, overseeing the communication efforts of all 20 athletic programs, keeping the athletics website up to date with daily news and game recaps, and managing gameday staff for home volleyball, basketball and baseball games. In his new role, Petro will be responsible for the department's licensing program, which includes contracts, billing, and seeking approval of artwork with the Office of Marketing and Communications. He'll also serve as the University's Champions of Character liaison, as well as oversee the Athletic Department's gameday ticketing operations.

Petro is one of two representatives for the Athletics Department on the Loyola Staff Senate, as well as serving as an At-Large member of the NAIA Sports Information Directors Association Executive Board.

"The past five years at Loyola have been amazing for me both professionally and personally, and I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity to continue to grow in this industry," Petro said. "I love this University and Athletics Department, and all I want to do is help shine a light on the incredible student-athletes and staff who make up the Wolf Pack. I also want to thank Brett Simpson, Dr. Alicia Bourque and Dr. Xavier Cole for providing excellent leadership to me and the Loyola community."
