PINEVILLE, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans women's tennis team began a packed week with a 7-0 road victory over Louisiana Christian Monday afternoon.
The Wolf Pack women's record is now 5-5 on the season, with four of the five wins being 7-0 sweeps. The Wildcats, who are playing in their first season since 2021, dropped to 4-10.
Two more matches await the Pack this week, as the SSAC Roundup continues in Montgomery, Ala. Loyola faces Tennessee Southern on Friday, April 5, with a match against Point University scheduled for Saturday.
Like they've done in most matches this season, the Pack secured the doubles point Monday in a strong start to the match. Adele Fereres and Chloe Henderson were dominant at No. 3 doubles, winning 6-0 to improve to 8-1 overall this season, including 6-0 against NAIA competition. Loyola wrapped up doubles on court 2, where sisters Lucy Carpenter and Elly Carpenter won 6-2.
Avrora Volkova started off singles for the Pack, improving to 2-0 on the season with a 6-4, 6-2 win. Isabella Leaño also played well in her first official match of the spring, winning 6-2, 6-1 on court 6. Adele Fereres clinched the match for Loyola, earning her seventh singles win of the year in a 6-1, 6-3 result at the No. 4 spot.
The Wolf Pack did not drop a set in any of the singles matches, with the team's normal 1-2-3 of Lucy Carpenter, Micaela Ponce, and Henderson finishing the match with straight-sets victories.
