Loyola swim continues conference championships Friday

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Loyola University New Orleans men's and women's swim teams competed in seven more events on Friday at the Sun Conference Championships. The Wolf Pack had swimmers in the 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard freestyle relay, and 400-yard medley relay throughout the day. 
 

Friday was highlighted by Eve Thomas' performance in the 100-yard backstroke, as she placed second with a time to 58.19. She's the school record holder in that event, and she was .27 of a second away from breaking that mark. 
 

Dylan Chehebar had the best finish on the men's side, placing sixth in the 100-yard butterfly. His time of 49.94 was also very close to the program-best time, missing out on his second different school record by less than a second. His brother, Benjamin Chehebar, had a seven-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle as well, swimming a 1:41.21 Friday evening. 
 

Catherine Streeter also competed in the 200-yard freestyle on the women's side, placing eighth with a time of 2:04.16. Emily Cooper also grabbed an eighth-place finish, as she swam a 4:42.69 in the 400-yard IM.
