CLEVELAND, Tenn. – With a smaller group, the Loyola Wolf Pack Track and Field teams traveled to Cleveland, Tennessee, for the Lee University Invitational. With only three athletes, the Loyola women managed a 10th-place finish among 23 eligible teams. With only Alex Medina competing, the men's team was not eligible for a team score. The meet took place during windy and rainy conditions, too, and the temperature progressively dropped throughout the day and night.Â
The Pack's next meet is set for Saturday, April 15, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the Southeastern Track Complex for the Strawberry Relays.
Competing against several NCAA Division I and II schools, the Pack was up against difficult competition on Friday. Bryana Bazile earned an eighth-place finish in discus of 37.40 meters, beating out athletes from Belmont, Wingate, and Cedarville, Division I and II programs.Â
Kaitlyn Becnel claimed victory in high jump, finishing with a height of 1.60 meters. Becnel's first-place performance on Friday ties for the fifth-best spot in program history for high jump.Â
To cap off the meet for the Pack, Madisyn Acosta earned a 33rd-place finish in the 10,000-meter run. Acosta's time of 38:47.55 from Friday is the best in program history, surpassing the previous program best by nearly 10 minutes.
