MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Loyola University New Orleans sophomore Tenosh Landry put herself in position to compete at the NAIA National Championship in March with her mark in the high jump on Friday. And on Tuesday, she was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week.Â
Â
Tuesday also marked the first SSAC weekly award for the women's track and field program since Bryana Bazile's in 2024.Â
Â
Landry and the Wolf Pack took part in the Xavier Gold Nuggets Meet on Friday, and she won her event out of five competitors. The Marrero, Louisiana, native cleared 1.55 and 1.60 meters on her first attempts at that height, and needed two jumps to top 1.65 meters, which was an indoor personal record and a school record. She needed to clear 1.66 meters to earn an NAIA B standard for the national championship meet, but cleared 1.69 meters - an NAIA A standard - on her third attempt to win the competition and clean the NAIA's fifth-best jump of the indoor season.Â
Â
The reigning SSAC Outdoor High Jump Champion and SSAC Freshman of the Year already holds the program's outdoor record at 1.71 meters.Â
Â
The NAIA Indoor National Championships are set for Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, in Gainesville, Florida, and the outdoor season is slated to begin in early March as well.Â
