MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced its scholar-athlete team on Monday, including two members of the Loyola women's track and field team. Renee Anderson and Jordyn Minor represented the Wolf Pack among the conference's honorees.

To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in both academic and athletic standing, must be starters or important reserves, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have competed in 50 percent of the competitions. Graduate students are not eligible, and transfers must have completed one semester at the school.

Anderson put together a solid season in her sophomore year. The Gretna, Louisiana, native recorded two first-place finishes in the indoor season, winning the shot put at the Bleu Devils Classic and the SSAC Indoor Championships. The latter contest awarded her First Team All-Conference in indoor track and field for her shot put performance. Loyola's Champions of Character honoree also excelled in the classroom, achieving SSAC All-Academic status for the first time in her collegiate career. Anderson has a 3.655 GPA as a computer science major at Loyola.

Minor also put on a performance in her sophomore season. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native competed in the NAIA Indoor National Championships in February, posting a long jump of 5.60 meters to qualify for the event. Her 5.60-meter jump is the third-best distance in program history, earning her Third Team All-Conference for her long jump performance at the SSAC Indoor Championships.

In the outdoor season, Minor set a program record in the long jump, posting a mark of 6.04 meters at the SSAC Championships. The sophomore's performance secured her NAIA A Standard qualification and First Team All-Conference. Minor is set to compete in the NAIA Outdoor Championships for the first time in her collegiate career. Minor also shined off the field, earning an SSAC All-Academic nod. Minor has a 3.928 GPA as a communications major at Loyola.
