GULF BREEZE, Fla. – The Loyola Wolf Pack played a significantly better second round on Tuesday compared to Monday's first round, improving their team score by 24 strokes to place fourth at West Florida's Argonaut Invitational in Gulf Breeze, Florida. The Wolf Pack (+62, 638) shot a 307 during Day 2 of the competition to jump Spring Hill College (+70) and finished three strokes behind third-place Christian Brothers (+59) and five behind second-place Union University (+57).Â

West Florida won the tournament with a 32-over, 608-team score.Â

Sophomore Blair McKenzie had the biggest improvement individually, recording an even-par, 72 second-round after Monday's 82. McKenzie jumped up nine spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for fourth place to earn her second career Top 5 finish. The Madisonville, Louisiana, native started her round with five straight pars before a bogey on the par-4, sixth brought her to one-over. Eight more pars followed, then a birdie on the 15th moved her back to even. Her 72 matched the individual medalist for the lowest round among the 40 competitors as well, ending the tournament with a 10-over, 154 score. Â

Catherine Singletary had the biggest leap on the leaderboard among all the golfers, too, as the freshman jumped up 18 spots into a tie for 11th after her round of 75 (+3) on Tuesday. The League City, Texas, native carded three bogeys and four birdies during her first nine holes before finishing her second nine four-over to bring her to her 3-over score.Â

Playing as an individual, Kaitlyn Montoya tied Singletary in 11th place, firing a second 78 to move her up a couple of shots from Monday on the leaderboard. As far as team scoring, Lainey Cristan was next for the Pack in 13th place with a two-round total of 151 (+17). She shot a 79 on Tuesday to make it four Wolf Pack golfers inside the Top 20. Daniella Salazar and Emma Smithers were next for Loyola, placing in a tie for 22nd and 24th place, respectively.Â

The 12th-ranked Wolf Pack will now turn their attention to the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship on April 23-26 at Cambrian Ridge in Greenville, Alabama.Â
