CLINTON, Miss. – The Loyola Track & Field teams went to Mississippi on Friday to compete in the Mike McMillan Twilight Invitational, facing other NAIA teams in Mobile, William Carey, and Dillard, along with NCAA Division II programs like Mississippi College and West Alabama.Â

On Friday, May 12, the Pack will make the trip across town to take part in the Dillard Invitational. There, Loyola will compete against other local programs, including NAIA opponent Xavier.

On Friday, Kaitlyn Becnel and Jolie Matherne competed for the Wolf Pack. Becnel competed in the high jump, earning a second-place finish, reaching a 1.60-meter height, which ties the fifth-best in program history. Matherne participated in two events in hammer throw and javelin throw. In the javelin throw, Matherne clinched first place with 24.11 meters.

The Wolf Pack men were competitive in Friday's meet with Alex Medina, Christian Keys, and Willem Lang competing. Medina ended the 800-meter run in sixth place. Medina's time of 1:56.23 is the best in program history, beating out his previous best from last week's meet in Mobile at the SSAC Championship. In the javelin throw, Keys and Lang earned second place and third place, respectively. Keys threw for 46.12 meters, while Lang threw for 37.45 meters.
