No. 17 baseball suffers road loss Tuesday

The Wolf Pack took a break from SSAC play to take on Louisiana Christian University

PINEVILLE, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team took on Louisiana Christian for the second time this season on Tuesday, making a return trip to Pineville, Louisiana, after the Wildcats visited Segnette Field earlier this season. The Wolf Pack lost their final non-conference game of the season, 11-4.

The Pack (29-17, 14-7 SSAC) will turn their attention to William Carey later this weekend, wrapping up the regular season Thursday and Friday in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The first game of the three-game series is set for 6 p.m. Thursday night, then a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1 p.m. wraps up the series.

Loyola pushed across the game's first run in the opening frame, as Brandon Mooney and Cole Romero combined to make it a 1-0 lead with a double and an RBI single, respectively. The Wildcats, though, took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first. Loyola made it a 3-2 game in the top fourth, with Kason Cullins picking up that RBI after Nathan Monceaux doubled to start the inning. However, Louisiana Christian answered in the next half inning again, scoring two more runs to take a 5-2 advantage.

LCU scored two more in the sixth, 7-2, before the Wolf Pack scored again in the seventh. Mooney scored Aaron Davis to make it 7-3, but once again, the Wildcats got that run back in the bottom half, 8-3. Monceaux scored again in the eighth, 8-4, then Louisiana Christian added three more runs later in the inning to put the game away.

Pack Facts
