Loyola Track and Field competes in tough conditions Saturday

HAMMOND, La. – The Wolf Pack traveled to the northshore on Saturday to compete in the Strawberry Relays at Southeastern's Track Complex. The Pack was set to compete in many of the weekend's events, but weather conditions made it a smaller showing for Loyola. The Wolf Pack did not receive a team score for Saturday's meet.

On Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22, the Pack will compete in the SSAC Championships in Mobile, Alabama.

In the discus throw, Mykhala Coleman and Jolie Matherne earned seventh and eighth-place finishes of 27.40 meters and 25.45 meters. To add to that, Coleman and Matherne finished ahead of Tulane and Xavier-Louisiana throwers. 

Bryana Bazile was another highlight on the day for the Wolf Pack women, finishing 11th in the hammer throw with a 38.65-meter performance. Bazile's results on Saturday earned her the fourth-best spot in program history in the hammer throw.

Blair Turner managed fourth and fifth-place finishes in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash events, ending with times of 11.19 and 22.90 seconds. Turner finished ahead of a Tulane runner, along with other NCAA Division I and NAIA athletes. Braddock Lord earned the fifth-best spot in the Wolf Pack record book with his ninth-place finish of 16.83 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. 

Richard Magann also earned the fifth-best spot in the record book with his ninth-place finish in discus of 34.14 meters. Magann did not let the weather conditions deter his performance as he earned the best hammer throw distance in program history, reaching 34.67 meters and grabbing eighth place in the event.
