NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola University New Orleans women's golf team concluded its only home tournament of the season on Tuesday, playing the final 18 holes of the 54-hole event at English Turn Golf Club. The No. 10 Wolf Pack took second place with a 920 (+56) score, coming in behind No. 7 William Carey (899, +35) but beating No. 6 Cumblerlands (943, +79).
The Loyola B team also had a good tournament, overtaking Faulkner on Tuesday to slide into fourth place. It also beat Mississippi College, Mobile and Point University. Kaitlyn Montoya played on the B team this week but had the best tournament of all Wolf Pack golfers, placing in a tie for third place with a 9-over score. She carded a third-round 76 on Tuesday to finish the tournament with 225 strokes for her first career Top 5 finish at Loyola.
On the A team, Catherine Singletary claimed the third Top 5 finish of her collegiate career, finishing in a tie for fifth with an 11-over three-round score. The freshman carded a third-round 80 while Lainey Cristan led the team with a 71 on her card on Tuesday. Cristan, who started the day outside the Top, took eighth place for her second career Top 10 finish.
Blair McKenzie also grabbed a Top 10 finish with her round of 74, and the sophomore finished the tournament with a 13-over to get the fourth Top 10 placing of her career. Daniella Salazar and Emma Smithers finished up the Loyola A team's scoring with 15-over and 21-over scores through the 54 holes. Salazar had a third-round 83 to Smithers' 79 to finish 11th and 13th, respectively.
Loyola will next head to Old Hickory, Tennessee, to play in the Music City Invite March 27-28.
