NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola women's golf team is hosting its only tournament of the year this week, playing 54 holes over two days at English Turn Golf Club. On Monday, the field played the first 36 holes, as the 10th-ranked Wolf Pack A Team sits in second place with a 40-over score while No. 7 William Carey leads after combining to shoot a 21-over score. Loyola leads significantly over No. 6 Cumberland, too, which shot 59-over.

The Loyola B team, which is only four golfers, sits in fifth place as well, leading over Mississippi College, Mobile and Point University.

Catherine Singletary paced the women's A team with a 3-over day through the 36 holes, first shooting a 72 in the morning before a 75 in the afternoon. The freshman carded a birdie and an eagle during her first nine holes of the first round, but a 7 on the par-4 fourth brought her to an even-par 36. She followed that up with another even nine holes, scoring two birdies and two bogeys to finish her first 18 holes. In the afternoon, Singletary was five-over through 10 holes before getting hot with four straight birdies on the 11th through 14th holes to get back down to 1-over. She closed her round with two bogeys and two pars during her final four holes as well.

Kaitlyn Montoya, who's playing on the Loyola B team this week, is right on her teammate's heels with a 5-over day to sit tied for second individually. After scoring a 5-over, 77 with five bogeys and 13 pars in her first round, the junior was 1-under through her first seven holes in the second round. Her next eight holes were a little up and down, as she sat 2-over with two holes to play, but two birdies closed out her round to shoot her up the leaderboard.

Also making up the Loyola A team, Daniella Salazar and Blair McKenzie are both in the Top 10 on the leaderboard. Salazar carded rounds of 79 and 75 on the day to sit in eighth place, while McKenzie scored an 80 and a 77 through the two rounds to position herself in 10th. Lainey Cristan and Emma Smithers are both just outside the Top 10 to help Loyola's scoring, too, as Cristan is tied for 11th with a 14-over day and Smithers is tied for 13th one stroke behind her teammate.
