NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola University New Orleans men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up a three-match homestand on Wednesday with exhibitions against the NJCAA's Jones College in City Park.Â

The Wolf Pack won both matches by a score of 6-1. Loyola's women's team, freshly ranked No. 11 in the NAIA, now has a 9-3 record this season, while the men are 5-6.Â

Loyola swept doubles competition in the women's match, and while the men lost the doubles point, they won every match in singles.Â

Adele Fereres and Selma Fereres played their first match of the year together at No. 3 doubles, with the sisters earning a 6-4 victory. Loyola claimed the women's doubles point with Micaela Ponce and Ariana Salgueiro-Estela winning 6-2 at No. 2, then Lucy Carpenter and Fatima Vasquez finished off doubles in a tiebreak, 7-6 (7-5). Carpenter and Ponce each picked up straight-sets victories in singles as well.Â

In men's doubles, Tiger Cheung returned from injury, teaming up with Kent Shiell for a quick 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot.

The first singles match to finish for both the men and women was at the No. 4 spot, as Samuel Motazed won his match 6-3, 6-0, and Leonie Schmidt didn't drop a single game in her 6-0, 6-0 Court 4 match.Â

Francisco Javier Arce Vieyra and Theo Debackere won their No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches in straight sets, and Spencer Matz clinched the team match win for the Wolf Pack men with his 6-3, 6-4 win on Court 5. Diego Rodriguez Tobar and Remus Hebhang-Balan both fought from a set down in their matches, pulling out the win in three sets.Â

In addition to Carpenter, Ponce, and Schmidt for the women, Avery Frierson and Isabella Leaño also won their matches in straight sets.Â

The Wolf Pack will have a quick turnaround after today's match, traveling to Mobile, Ala. on Thursday to take on the University of Mobile Rams. The Rams are ranked No. 20 on the women's side and No. 25 on the men's. The matches are scheduled for 1 p.m.Â
