BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Wolf Pack men's and women's indoor track teams had a record-breaking day on Monday at the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships, earning four school records and eleven records within the Top 5 in the Loyola record book. Loyola has shown that it continues to improve its play over the course of the season, as some program records have been shattered from week to week.

The Pack travels across town for the second time this season to compete in the Dillard Indoor Classic II at Joe W. Brown Park on Friday, Feb. 10.Â

The highlight of the day came in the women's high jump where Kaitlyn Becnel became an SSAC Champion with her performance. The junior jumped 1.56 meters for the first time in her career, clearing the bar on her first attempt. The jump was also the second-best in program history. Acosta earned broke new school records in the one-mile and 1,000-meter runs. She finished fourth in the one-mile run first, crossing the finish line in 5:19.35 and breaking the Loyola record she set in McNeese less than two weeks ago. Acosta's day did not end there as she claimed another Loyola record in the 1,000-meter race, finishing in second place with a time of 3:10.11.

In other women's events, the Pack kicked things off with the 4x800m Relay, as Amber Byrd, Isabel Esteb, Jasmine Martinez, and Mallory Foret combined to earn a third place finish, ending the race in 10:57.86 for the second-best time in Loyola's record book. In the 600-meter run, Byrd earned a fifth-best Loyola record, taking sixth place with a 1:52.10 time, and Kennedy Daniels finished 16th for a distance of 4.12 meters, earning a fourth-best Loyola record.Â

Bryana Bazile and Mykhala Coleman earned spots in Loyola's record book for the shot put, earning third and fourth places in the event, respectively, with distances of 12.68 and 12.52 meters. Bazile earns second place in the record book, just behind her own record, while Coleman gets third and notches her best personal distance. Coleman and Bazile also earned the second and third-best distances in the Loyola record book in the weight throw, an event they finished with distances of 13.65Â and 13.24 meters, placing third and fourth, respectively.Â

In the final event of the day for the women, Loyola earned the second-best time in the record book in the 4x400-meter relay finishing fourth with a time of 4:39.79.

In the men's events, Braddock Lord made a splash in the 60-meter hurdles, running a 9.08 time in the preliminary race for a new school record. While he was seeded eighth in the final race, he placed seventh with a time of 9.29. In the 1,000-meter run, Medina notched a spot in Loyola's record book, getting the second-best time, and finishing fifth place with a time of 2:47.32. Medina also finished fourth with a time of 4:35.36 in the mile run, breaking his personal record.Â

In shot put, Richard Magann and Christian Keys came up with the third and fourth-best distances in the Loyola record book with 11.23 meters and 10.99 meters, earning sixth and seventh places in the event, respectively. In the weight throw, Corey Sanders broke the Loyola record by over a meter, set last week in McNeese. Sanders finished sixth with a distance of 11.20 meters, breaking his own personal best by over two meters.

As teams, the Wolf Pack women finished third out of seven SSAC teams competing in the event. The Wolf Pack men finished sixth out of six SSAC teams competing in the event.Â
