NEW ORLEANS – The Wolf Pack men's and women's indoor tracks teams went into their final indoor meet of the season on Friday at Dillard's Mardi Gras Classic. The Pack went against local opponents in Dillard and Xavier-Louisiana. After Monday's meet at the SSAC Championships, the Pack needed key performances to advance to the National Championships.Â
Â
Madisyn Acosta, Bryana Bazile and Kaitlyn Becnel all won their events on Friday, and all three also qualified for the NAIA National Championships next month.Â
Â
Acosta earned a first-place finish in the 5,000-meter run with her time of 18:13.83, easily hitting the NAIA B Standard with the 32nd-fastest time in the NAIA this season. The time is also a school record for Loyola. Becnel followed that up with the a school record in the high jump, achieving a height of 1.64 meters to meet the NAIA B standard in national championship qualifying. Bazile put on a show in the shot put with 13.02 meters, which is also good enough for the NAIA B standard.Â
Â
The three Wolf Pack qualifiers will conclude the indoor season on March 2 through March 4 in Brookings, S.D., at the NAIA Championships.
