Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans men's basketball team moved its Southern States Athletic Conference winning streak to 20 games on Saturday, defeating the University of Mobile, 82-77, on the road. The Wolf Pack pushed their record to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in league play, capturing their fifth straight victory over the Rams as well.Â

The Pack will take the week off from competition before their second matchup with the Dillard Bleu Devils this season, traveling across town for a 2 p.m. contest on Sunday, Dec. 11.Â

Neither team could gain a lead larger than two points in the first nine and a half minutes of play, as Mobile finally broke through with a 20-15 lead at the 10:30 mark. Michael Harden got Loyola on the board early with a 3-pointer, then free throws by Luke Ladner and a score by Leonard Jackson made it a 7-6 Wolf Pack advantage through four and a half minutes of play. The two teams exchanged two 3s each, with Jalen Galloway and Ladner each hitting one for the Pack and a long 2-point jumper by Milan Mejia tied the game at 15 with 12-plus minutes until halftime.Â

After Mobile went up 20-15, Blake Burkey and Galloway each hit 3s to regain the lead, 21-20, but the Rams went back up 25-21 a minute later. Harden tied the game again with back-to-back scores, but again, Mobile was able to extend its lead to 33-27 with 4:44 left until halftime. Burkey and Galloway combined to bring to deficit to 33-31 less than two minutes later, and a 3-pointer by Galloway made it a 1-point game, 35-34, with 2:35 left on the clock. The Rams, however, still finished the first 20 minutes of play with a 39-24 lead.Â

Loyola battled through the first seven minutes of the second half to regain the lead, eventually jumping ahead 53-51. Harden and Galloway combined for the first six points, still trailing 43-40, then a Harden 3-pointer and a score by Jackson kept things close, 51-49, at the 14-minute mark. Harden tied things up with his 14th point and free throws by Galloway finally put Loyola ahead.Â

Andrew Stagni got his first score of the game to make it a 57-52 contest, then the senior hit two 3-pointers a few minutes later to take a 67-59 lead with less than eight minutes left in the game. Harden and Stagni drained two more 3s to maintain the advantage, 73-66, with five minutes to play, and four points from the charity stripe by Harden kept it a multi-possession lead, 77-71, with two minutes on the clock. Three points from Galloway and two from Mejia helped seal the winÂ

After a successful week in conference play, Loyola has five-game winning streaks against both Mobile and Thursday's opponent, William Carey. Loyola has also taken 13 of the last 15 games against Mobile.Â
