Box Score Strong defense and a few big offensive runs from Loyola help them seal the win 82-41
NEW ORLEANS – In their final home game of the 2019 season, the No. 25 Loyola University New Orleans women' basketball team defeated Blue Mountain College 82-41 Saturday afternoon in The Den.
With all four seniors getting the start in today's game, the Wolf Pack (22-6, 15-3 SSAC) got on the board with a pair of early scores from An'Jolique Woodson and Kayla Noto. After Kennedy Hansberry connected on a three, Blue Mountain scored nine unanswered to take an 11-7 advantage. The visiting Toppers (3-21, 2-16 SSAC) would maintain their lead through the rest of the quarter, as Loyola trailed 15-14 after the first 10 minutes of play.
The opening of the second period was all Paige Franckiewicz and Presley Wascom, as they scored 13-straight points to give Loyola a lead they would hold the remainder of the game. The Pack would go out in front by nine, taking a 32-23 advantage into the halftime break.
Kennedy Hansberry got the Wolf Pack rolling to open the third quarter with a layup, before the home team stepped out in front by 15, 44-29, on another score from the freshman. Loyola would go on a tear, taking a 15-0 run up until the end of the quarter, with the Toppers scoring a free throw to make it a 59-30 game after a 27-7 quarter by the Pack.
To open the final 10 minutes of play, Tay Cannon went on an offensive tear, scoring 12-unanswered points to push Loyola out in front even further, 71-30. Blue Mountain was held off the scoreboard by the Wolf Pack defense for nearly five minutes of play, as they eventually built a 39-point advantage. Loyola would take down the Toppers by a final score of 82-41 for their 22nd win of the season.
The Pack will play their final game of the regular season next week, as they travel to Pulaski, Tenn. to face Martin Methodist on Saturday, February 23 at 2 p.m.

Entering today ranked fourth in the NAIA with a 33.2% field goal percentage on defense, the Wolf Pack held Blue Mountain to just 30.2% from the field.
After all earning the start in today's Senior Day game, the class of 2019 scored 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.
To open the fourth quarter, freshman guard Tay Cannon scored 12 unanswered, and finished the game with 14 points, six rebounds and a pair of steals.
Megan Worry scored 14 points, her 17th game hitting double-digits in the scoring column, while grabbing eight boards and blocking one shot.
Her 266 rebounds on the season moves her into eighth place for the most boards in a single season with the Pack.
Paige Franckiewicz connected on three makes from three today, finishing with 11 points and a steal.
