Box Score Sophomore Tera Snell enjoyed a career-high 18 points in the win
NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola Wolf Pack travelled across town to Dillard and pulled out a win on Tuesday night, defeating the Bleu Devils 73-66. The Pack is now 7-1 overall this season and it remains 2-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference play.
In a close game through three quarters, the Wolf Pack finally found its edge in the fourth quarter to pull away in the final minutes.
Dillard opened up the contest with a 4-0 lead until a three from Paige Franckiewicz put Loyola on the board.
The first quarter ended with Dillard holding a one point advantage over Loyola, 20-19.
The Bleu Devils put together a 10-0 run starting at the 9:21 mark in the second quarter. Kaila Anthony put an end to the run with a three-pointer. Dillard would make two free throws to make the score 32-25 then Kate Petrovic answered with her own three-pointer.
Kennedy Hansberry gave Loyola a one point lead, 35-34, with an and-1 bucket at the 2:56 mark in the second quarter. The first half ended with both teams at 40 points each.
At the start of the third quarter, both teams traded buckets. Snell scored seven points in the third quarter as the Wolf Pack trailed 55-58 heading in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Loyola would put together its best quarter in the fourth, outscoring Dillard 18-8. Presley Wascom got things going for the Wolf Pack in the fourth with a bucket to pull Loyola within one point.
Loyola took the lead, 63-60, on a three pointer from Tera Snell with five minutes left in the game. A pair of three pointers from Franckiewicz would cushion the lead for the Wolf Pack in the final minutes.
Loyola returns to the court Saturday, Dec. 14, for a 2:00 p.m. home game against Xavier.
