Box Score

The Wolf Pack are playing two games this weekend in Lakeland, Florida

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Loyola Wolf Pack suffered their first loss of the season Friday in Lakeland, Florida, losing to Southeastern University 79-66. Loyola outscored the Fire in two of the game's quarters, but a slow start in the first quarter forced the Wolf Pack to play from behind the rest of the contest.

The Wolf Pack will play Ave Maria University Saturday at 1 p.m. in Lakeland.

Southeastern began the game with a 10-3 run to set the pace early. Loyola cut the score to 11-9 halfway through the first, but the Fire extended it back out to 19-9 by the end of the frame.

Two quick buckets by Southeastern made it a 24-9 ballgame to start the second, however, the Wolf Pack used a 17-7 run to cut the Fire's lead to five. Kate Petrovic's 3-pointer made it a 31-26 game with three minutes left in the half. Petrovic made another 3 in the final 5 seconds to bring the deficit to 38-31 after the first 20 minutes of play.

Southeastern outscored Loyola 23-15 in the third quarter, as Loyola trailed 61-41 entering the final 10 minutes of play. The two traded points for most of the fourth quarter, but back-to-back 3-pointers from Kaila Anthony and Presley Wascom cut the Fire's advantage to 10 with two minutes to play.

Southeastern would hold on for the 13-point win, though.
