Box Score The Wolf Pack picked up its first conference win as Kaila Anthony led all scorers with 19 points
NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team defeated No. 16 Bethel on Thursday night in The Den by a score of 61-49.
With the win, the Wolf Pack moves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
The Wildcats were the first team to get on the board and jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but the Wolf Pack answered with a three pointer from Paige Franckiewicz and a field goal from Breyah Richardson.
For the remainder of the first quarter the teams exchanged leads with Bethel coming out on top, 16-15.
To open the second quarter, the Wildcats knocked down back-to-back three pointers.
Bethel put on a strong defensive effort in the second quarter holding the Wolf Pack to nine points and were able to build on to their lead heading into the break. The first half ended with Bethel on top with a seven point lead, 24-31.
The Wildcats continued to apply pressure in the third quarter leading by as many as 10 points until an 8-0 run pulled the Wolf Pack two points, 39-41.
At the start of the fourth quarter, Loyola trailed 39-43.
Presley Wascom opened the fourth quarter for Loyola with a three-pointer and put the momentum in the Wolf Pack's favor.
With 8:28 on the clock, Tera Snell drained a three-point shot to even the game at 45-45. From there, a 13-0 run sparked the comeback for Loyola.
The Wolf Pack will return to The Den against Blue Mountain College on Saturday, November 23 with tip-off set for 12 p.m.
