Box Score Five members of the Wolf Pack score in double figures in the all-around team victory
BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team returned to its winning ways in Blue Mountain with an 83-51 victory over the Lady Toppers.
The Lady Toppers (1-12, 0-7 SSAC) struck first, jumping out to an early 5-2 lead, but the Wolf Pack (12-5, 6-2 SSAC) responded with 11 unanswered points to gain a 13-5 advantage midway through the opening quarter. The Pack would hold a 25-14 lead by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the team's defense locked in, holding Blue Mountain to just eight points for the period. Paige Franckiewicz knocked down three of her four triples in the quarter as the Wolf Pack offense continued to grow the lead. Loyola would take a 41-22 advantage into the halftime break after shooting 60% in the opening half.
More of the same was in store for the second half, as the Pack hit four three-pointers in the third quarter, including one by Tay Cannon that gave the visitors their largest lead of the game at 32 points. Loyola echoed its first quarter performance by winning the quarter 25-14, and the scoreboard read 66-36 heading into the final frame.
The Lady Toppers began to chip away at the lead, but the Wolf Pack held their ground, closing the game on an 8-2 run to win 83-51.
Loyola returns to New Orleans for a four-game homestand, beginning with a rematch of the 2018 SSAC Championship game as they take on Martin Methodist on Saturday, January 19 at 2 p.m. in The Den.
Pack Facts
Megan Worry, Paige Franckiewicz, Kennedy Hansberry, Tay Cannon, and An'Jolique Woodson all scored in double figures.
Worry had a game-high 15 points, as well as game highs in rebounds (7), assists (4), and blocks (2).
Franckiewicz was 4-6 from long range, marking the fifth time this season that she's hit four or more three-pointers in a game.
Woodson's 12 points matches a season best, while her seven rebounds are one off of her season best.
The Wolf Pack shot 54.2% from the field for the game, while holding Blue Mountain to just 24.2%.
