Box Score Hosting nearly 300 children from local schools, the Pack picked up a 66-58 win over the Badgers
NEW ORLEANS – The No. 17 Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team hosted Spring Hill College on Tuesday afternoon for their Champions of Character Game, where the home squad earned a 66-58 victory in The Den.
While the Badgers (1-2) struck first, the Wolf Pack (2-3) were not afraid to shoot early, with Presley Wascom hitting back-to-back three-pointers in the opening minutes. Megan Worry added a triple of her own as the Pack took a 9-7 lead midway through the first quarter. Kaila Anthony then added two more treys as Loyola ended the first period up 21-18.
Spring Hill cut the home lead to just one point halfway through the second quarter, but a triple by Paige Franckiewicz would start a 9-0 run by the Wolf Pack, as they extended their lead to 35-25. The home squad would take a 38-29 lead into halftime after holding the Badgers to 34.4% shooting in the first half.
Spring Hill opened up the scoring in the second half with a layup, but the Pack responded with a 6-0 run to gain their largest lead of the game at 44-31. Loyola would hold a double-digit lead until late in the fourth quarter, where the visitors cut the lead to five points at 61-56. A three from Anthony would put the game away as the Pack came away with the 66-58 victory.
The Pack will be back at home in The Den for their next game, hosting Southern University at New Orleans next Tuesday, November 20th at 5:30 p.m.

With today's victory, Loyola now holds a 28-6 lead all-time in the series with NCAA Division-II member Spring Hill College.
For the third time in five games this season, Kaila Anthony led the Wolf Pack in scoring with 19 and is averaging 18.6 points per contest.
For the second time this year, the junior sunk five threes in a game, a mark she had only hit once in her first two seasons at Loyola.
The Pack blocked nine shots in today's game, matching their season best, the most since blocking 10 against Xavier on November 15th in 2016.
Loyola was led defensively by Megan Worry, the school's second-most prolific shot blocker, who now has 75 career swats.
The senior has blocked multiple shots in each matchup so far this year, and is averaging 2.4 per game.
