The women's tennis team faced ranked opponents in day one of the SSAC Roundup.
The Loyola University women's tennis team looked to rebound from a tough 5-4 loss to nationally ranked opponent Middle Georgia State earlier in the day with a match against another ranked opponent Brenau University at the SSAC Roundup in Mobile, Alabama.
In spite of the great effort in doubles play, the team dropped the 9-0 decision against No. 4 Brenau University as the team completed day one of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Roundup.
Koral Martinez (SO/Lajas, Puerto Rico) and Miranda Cano (FR/Weston, Fla.) commanded the No. 1 doubles match against Brenau's Maya Mammetgulyyeva and Rebecca Pijils.
Martinez and Cano would eventually fall 8-6 in spite of strong play by the Wolf Pack.
In the singles competition, Nadja Ochsner (FR/Stein, Switzerland) held her own in the matchup against Pijiis, but ultimately fell 6-4.
The women's team will face Brewton-Parker and College of Coastal Georgia in day two of the SSAC Roundup tomorrow starting at 10:00 a.m.
