Box Score Senior guard Zoie Miller (SR/Frisco, Texas) surpasses 1,000 career points at Loyola in second quarter
MOBILE, Ala. - The Loyola women's basketball team took to the road for the sixth consecutive game tonight, claiming their eighth win of the season with a 84-75 win over Division II Spring Hill College.
Each team came out firing, with Spring Hill hitting a three to open play and Paige Franckiewicz (SO/Slidell, La.) responding with one of her own. With four minutes remaining in the opening quarter, the Badgers would claim the lead and hold on through the first 10 minutes, entering the second quarter with a 25-19 lead.
Down 21-29, the Wolf Pack would go on a 14-4 run to reclaim the lead. With 36 seconds remaining in the first half, Zoie Miller recorded her second steal of the game and scored her sixth point of the game on a breakaway, surpassing 1,000 career points with Loyola. The senior guard has begun her final season on a scoring tear, leading the SSAC averaging 20.4 points per game. At the half Loyola would take a 41-37 lead into the intermission.
Using the momentum of hitting her career milestone, Miller would score first to open the second half, hitting a three off of a Di'Mond Jackson (SR/Baton Rouge, La.) assist. Loyola would hold onto the lead throughout the third quarter, led by junior An'Jolique Woodson (JR/Corpus Christi, Texas), who scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in the contest, both of which were season highs.
Loyola held onto the lead to end the game following a 15-point performance in the fourth quarter from Miller. The Frisco, Texas native finished with 24 points on 11-16 (68.8%) shooting to go along with six rebounds. This is Miller's fourth-straight game with at least 24 points, as well as her seventh game scoring at least 20 this season.
Four members of the Wolf Pack scored in double figures tonight, while the team extended their win streak against the Badgers to 24 consecutive games dating back to January 2005.
Jackson logged 14 points and seven rebounds to go along with her game-high six assists. Kaila Anthony (SO/Pflugerville, Texas) added 12 points on 3-6 shooting, one of which was a three-pointer to extend the Wolf Pack lead in the second half.
For Spring Hill, Jewel Hill scored a game-high 27 points and led the team with seven rebounds.
