Box Score Megan Worry's six three-pointers lead the Pack to their sixth-straight victory
MOBILE, Ala. - The Loyola women's basketball team took to the road today for a SSAC matchup with Mobile, earning their sixth straight victory with an 80-50 win tonight at the H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium.
While the Rams (8-4, 1-2) would strike first, the Wolf Pack (10-3, 3-0) would quickly respond with a scoring outburst by junior Megan Worry.
Worry was a perfect six for six from beyond the arc in the first quarter, adding a layup to bring her total to 20 points in the game's first 10 minutes. The Wolf Pack led 22-12 after the first period.
Loyola would continue the hot three-point shooting performance in the second quarter, as Zoie Miller and Paige Franckiewicz each knocked down treys to give the visitors a 15-point lead early in the second quarter, the largest lead of the half for either team. However, Mobile would go on a nine to zero run to cut the Wolf Pack lead to five points, setting the halftime score at 35-30 Loyola.
The visiting Pack would come out firing on all cylinders in the second half, scoring 45 points while holding the Rams to 20 for the half, including just eight points in the fourth quarter.
Miller and Di'Mond Jackson orchestrated the offense, finishing with 13 points and 10 respectively, while Jackson finished with a near double-double between points and assists. Worry led the team with 22 points after her high-scoring first quarter, Franckiewicz added 15 points, and Kaila Anthony and An'Jolique Woodson each finished with six.
This was Loyola's second-consecutive victory of 30 or more points, after defeating the University of the Virgin Islands 76-41 this past Saturday. The Wolf Pack accomplished this feat last season as well, against William Carey and Blue Mountain on January 19th and 21st.
The Wolf Pack will take a break in action for the holidays, returning to the court on January 4th when they host Brewton-Parker for a conference matchup in The Den at 5:30 p.m
