Box Score Loyola hosts Paul Quinn College on Saturday, Nov. 11, with the game scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
After a convincing win against Huston-Tillotson, the Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team traveled to Dillard on Wednesday evening to take on the Lady Bleu Devils.
Dillard shot 42.2% from the field (27-64) compared to just 30.9% (25-81) for the Wolf Pack, and the shooting struggles ended up proving to be the difference in what was a fairly close game until the end.
The first quarter was where the Lady Bleu Devils built their lead, with Loyola trailing 21-12 after one quarter. For the rest of the game, the Pack did its best to come back. Zoie Miller (SR/Frisco, Texas) picked up four steals, some of which led to easy transition points for the senior guard. Continuing the trend of every other game so far this season, Miller ended up leading the team in points, finishing with 15 total points on a 7-19 (36.8%) performance from the field.
An'Jolique Woodson (JR/Corpus Christi, Texas) contributed some key hustle plays, grabbing five offensive rebounds which led to six points for her on the night, all coming from second chance opportunities. Di'Mond Jackson (SR/Baton Rouge, La.) also stuffed the stat sheet for Loyola, recording 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Off the bench, Kaila Anthony (SO/Pflugerville, Texas) tallied 14 points, including two of the Pack's three-pointers on the night.
But despite Loyola's best efforts to even the score, Dillard would hold a comfortable lead for most of the game. Guard Alyssa Washington led the Lady Bleu Devils in scoring with 17 on 6-14 shooting (42.9%), with Shaelynn Moore (15), Pearl Jones (13 points, 11 rebounds), and Alexia McDonald (11 points, 10 rebounds) also putting up double figure scoring numbers.
The Wolf Pack returns to action when it plays host to Paul Quinn College at The Den on Saturday, Nov. 11, with the game scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
