(RV) Loyola downs Brewton-Parker 70-45 on Thursday

Box Score

Wolf Pack wins fourth-straight conference game to improve to 17-4 overall and 9-2 in the SSAC.

Eyeing a fourth-straight conference victory, the (RV) Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team returned to First NBC Court on Thursday evening to welcome Brewton-Parker College for a Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) matchup.

Following a loss against No. 21 Bethel University on Jan. 14, the Wolf Pack (17-4, 9-2 SSAC) have been on a tear – winning three-straight games while outscoring its opponents by nearly 40 points during that span.

Although slightly closer than the previous three contests, Thursday's game was yet another dominating performance by Loyola at home.  Featuring 11 players to record at least one basket, the Wolf Pack managed to overcome an early deficit to cruise to the 70-45 victory over the Barons in New Orleans.

Despite the lopsided final score, Brewton-Parker actually held the 14-11 advantage with 2:36 to play in the first quarter.  Thanks to hoops by Megan Worry (SO/Houston, Texas), Meghan Temple (SR/Houston, Texas), and Kaila Anthony (FR/Pflugerville, Texas), the Wolf Pack managed to end the opening frame up five at 20-15.

Loyola started the second half by stringing together a 13-3 run to grab the commanding 36-18 lead. Brewton-Parker ended the first half on a 3-0 spurt but the home team remained on top, 41-27, entering intermission.

Loyola took a 20-point cushion into the fourth quarter and continued to build. Up 24, Kayla Noto (SO/New Orleans, La.) converted an and-one to give the Wolf Pack its largest lead of the game at 67-41 with just over two minutes to play. When the final buzzer sounded, Loyola came out on top 70-45 to earn its four-straight SSAC victory.

The Wolf Pack shot 25-of-82 (31%) from the floor and 7-of-20 (35%) from beyond the arc in the win. Loyola made the Barons pay for 21 turnovers by scoring 24 points off of turnovers on Thursday.

Zoie Miller (JR/Frisco, Texas)'s 11 points led three players in double figures. Temple notched her second-straight double-double with 10 points and 11 boards while Paige Franckiewicz (FR/Slidell, La.) put up 10 points in 24 minutes. Reigning SSAC Player of the Week Di'Mond Jackson (JR/Baton Rouge, La.) logged six points and 10 rebounds at the three position and Worry chipped in seven points, five boards, three blocks, two steals and two assists off the bench.

Kendricka Glover's game-high 15 points led the Barons in the loss.

Loyola returns to First NBC Court on Saturday, Jan. 28, to take on the College of Coastal Georgia at 2:00 p.m.
