No. 25 Loyola bests Mobile 66-51 on Saturday afternoon

The No. 25 Loyola University New Orleans Women's Basketball team started their regular-season ending road trip on Saturday, traveling to take on the University of Mobile.

The Wolf Pack's defense shined on the road; holding the Rams to just 19-of-60 (31%) shooting from the floor while forcing 23 turnovers. Loyola did not allow a single member of the Rams to score in double-figures en route to the 66-51 victory.

With the win, the Wolf Pack improve to 19-6 on the year and 13-3 in the SSAC. Conversely, Mobile drops to 13-14 and 7-9 in league play with the loss.

Fr. G Megan Worry (Houston, Texas/Lumberton) led Loyola with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting to go along with five rebounds. So. G Zoie Miller(Frisco, Texas/Lone Star High School) added 15 points and five assists off the bench, while R.-So G Di'Mond Jackson (Baton Rouge, La./University Arkansas Little Rock) chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds in the win.

Starla Daggan led the Rams with nine points, while Alicia Curry contributed seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Rams came out of the gate on fire, jumping out to an early 7-0 lead. Following a basket by Sr. F Adrianne Sloboh (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal High School) at the 7:01 mark, Mobile put together another 7-0 run to push the advantage to 14-2 with 3:23 to play in the first quarter. Loyola ended the quarter by scoring eight-unanswered points to bring the score to 14-10 after the first ten minutes of action.

Loyola took its first lead of the game at the 5:07 mark in the second quarter after Worry connected on a jumper to put the Wolf Pack up 22-21. With the score tied at 28-28, Jr. G Kylah Jones (Houston, Texas/Westfield) hit a free throw to give the visitors the 29-28 advantage heading in to the locker rooms.

The Wolf Pack never trailed in the second half, building the lead to as much as 17 points in the fourth quarter. Miller ended the game with a triple to give Loyola the 66-51 victory on the road.

Loyola will travel to take on Blue Mountain College on Thursday, Feb. 25, with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m.
