Box Score Loyola kicks off SSAC play with a convincing victory on the road. With the win, the Wolf Pack improve to 6-2 heading into its meeting with Coastal Georgia on Saturday.
Following a historic victory on Monday which saw head coach Kellie Kennedy become the winningest basketball coach in Wolf Pack history, the No. 24 Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team kicked off conference play on Thursday evening with a match up against Brewton-Parker College.
The Wolf Pack (6-2) easily dispelled the Barons at Gillis Gymnasium on Thursday, using 11 scorers on the evening to grab the convincing 82-44 victory in Georgia.
Not surprisingly, Loyola held the steep advantage in nearly all statistical categories, highlighted by a 64-31 rebounding edge and a 16-3 steals differential.
Loyola shot .378 (28-of-74) from the field and .438 (7-of-16) from downtown in the victory while holding Brewton-Parker just a .262 shooting clip for the game.
Off the bench, Shayne Charles (SR/New Iberia, La) led Loyola with 11 points in just nine minutes played. Meghan Temple (SR/Houston, Texas) and Paige Franckiewicz (FR/Slidell, La.) each tallied nine points on Thursday with Temple adding eight rebounds. Starting small forward Jackie Anderson (SR/San Antonio, Texas) chipped in eight points and eight boards in the win while Zoie Miller (JR/Frisco, Texas) added eight points and a game-high six steals in just over 27 minutes played.
Kimberly Person paced the Barons offense with a game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
The Wolf Pack will stay in Georgia over the weekend to square off against Coastal Georgia on Saturday, Dec. 3, with opening tip set for 2:00 p.m.
