Looking to snap a four-game losing streak, the Loyola University New Orleans Men's Basketball team rolled in to Mt. Vernon, Ga. on Thursday to take on Brewton-Parker College in a Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) matchup.
Powered by three scorers in double figures, the Wolf Pack outlasted the Barons 63-61 inside the Gillis Gymnasium.
Loyola improves to 6-6 on the year and 2-3 in league play following the victory. Brewton-Parker falls to 6-7 overall and 3-2 in SSAC action after Thursday's loss.
The Wolf Pack shot 23-of-59 (39%) from the floor and 7-of-18 (39%) from beyond the arc on the evening. Loyola held the slim 43-40 rebounding margin, while collecting five blocks compared to three by Brewton-Parker.
Fr. G Tre'Von Jasmine (Edgard, La./East St. John High) led the Wolf Pack with 15 points, while Jr. F Johnny Griffin Jr. (Chicago, Ill./Bloom Trail High) grabbed a team-best 11 boards. Fr. G Eric Brown (Homer, La./Arcadia High School) added 11 points on Thursday and Fr. F Ryan Smith (Plano, Texas/Plano West High School) chipped in 10 points and four rebounds in the victory.
Thierry Lynn collected a double-double for the Barons, recording 10 points and grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds.
Loyola returns to action on Saturday, January 9, against Coastal Georgia on the road at 4:00 p.m.
